Instructors

Ranran
Hao is the director and the main instructor
of First Class Mandarin.
She graduated from Beijing University with a Bachelor of Science
degree. She has 6 years experience in Beijing teaching Mandarin.
This included teaching university students from other countries
and training the staff of international companies. Following that
she has been continuing her teaching career in Toronto for the
last 6 years. She received training in teaching Mandarin as a foreign language in Beijing
in 1998 and in Toronto in 2006.
Ranran is a proven effective and talented
Mandarin teacher. She is sensitive to individual students'
learning needs. She can give personalized suggestions to them.
She can always give answers which are clear and easy for the
student to understand. She keeps her class lively as well as
efficient. Her students find they can learn a lot while enjoying
their class time.
Jenny Liu
is one of our instructors
at First Class Mandarin.
She graduated from the Department
of Chinese Language and Literature of Shandong University China
with both her BA and MA. She has almost 10 years of experience
in teaching Chinese linguistics and language in China. Also,
in the last two years, she was teaching Mandarin at
George Washington University and University of Louisville
in the US. She became very experienced during that time in
teaching Mandarin in a North American setting. She has taught
classes at all different levels to students from a variety
of backgrounds. Jenny always strives to establish a teaching
style centred on the student, and a dynamic classroom environment
in which both teaching and learning become rewarding and enjoyable.
Many of her students have thought of her as an inspiration in
their journey of learning Chinese.
Haiping Liao
is another of our instructors
at First Class Mandarin.
She taught Mandarin as a second language at Alberta Chinese Academy in Calgary before moving to Toronto.
She earned her BSc and MEng degrees in Nanjing and Beijing China.
She has 15 years of combined work experience in Chinese and Canadian companies,
receiving excellent language training in both countries.
She has sincere interest and passion in promoting Mandarin among people who speak other languages.
Her lessons are always well prepared and interesting to her students, who find her
knowledgeable, responsible, and patient.
Ellen Liu
specializes in teaching kids classes
at First Class Mandarin.
She graduated from Teacher's College of Shenyang University and taught English in China to Grades 1 to 6
for 7 years. After immigrating to Canada, she studied Early Childhood Education in 2008-2009 and worked
with preschoolers in day care in Toronto. Ellen loves children and and enjoys working with children all
the time. As an experienced bilingual teacher, she knows how to help children learn a second language.
She believes that interests are the best teacher. Her classes are full of fun activities --
singing songs, drawing pictures, playing games.
Kelly Kang
is also an instructor
at First Class Mandarin.
She graduated from Beijing Teachers University in 1988, going on to work as a teacher for over 13 years
at Beijing Media University. After she came to Canada, she continued her teaching career in Toronto as a
Chinese tutor and interpreter for more than 3 years. Starting this year, she has been teaching Mandarin
to kids at local schools.
